BMW Motorrad hasn’t revealed many details of its upcoming motorcycle yet, however, we expect it to be quite a mental upgrade.
BMW Motorrad has surprised everyone with the announcement of the new BMW M 1000 XR, an even more mental version of the BMW S 1000 XR, slated for a debut on June 6, 2023. While there’s no confirmation on its arrival in India, the latest M from the German automaker is the third in the company’s portfolio to be tuned by its performance division, joining the BMW M 1000 RR and the BMW M 1000 R. BMW Motorrad hasn’t revealed many details of its upcoming motorcycle yet, however, we expect it to be quite a mental upgrade.
As expected from the M division, the BMW M 1000 XR will carry significant upgrades over its S 1000 XR version as the engine is expected to be tuned for more power and torque, the suspension could be stiffened, and the brakes might be upgraded. The M 1000 XR might also feature a more aggressive bodywork, which includes a new front fairing, a new tail section, and a new set of wheels. We also expect BMW to add a special livery onto the BMW M 1000 XR to help differentiate it from the standard version.
Underneath, the BMW M 1000 XR could house a 999 cc inline-four engine derived from the BMW S 1000 RR. While we await for more details from its global premiere next month, expect the BMW M 1000 XR to develop close to 205 bhp and 112 Nm of peak torque, making it the undisputed leader in its class. The transmission will, of course, be handled by an automatic box.
In terms of design, we expect the BMW M 1000 XR to feature M-specific styling cues, identical to other M models in the portfolio. So, the BMW M 1000 XR will feature M-specific winglets, asymmetrical LED headlights, M carbon fibre wheels, a lightweight battery, and various M-branded components. We also expect the superbike to come equipped with a fully adjustable Öhlins suspension system, lightweight aluminum frame, and high-performance braking system.
