2026 is going to be a big year for the Indian passenger vehicle industry as plenty of new launches are lined up throughout the course of next year. One of the most anticipated launches is the third generation Renault Duster slated to make its debut on 26 January 2026. Alongside Duster, another big launch next year is the Nissan Tekton based on the former which is slated to make its debut a couple of months later.
Both these C-segment compact SUVs have been spotted individually on numerous occasions over the past few months. Based on the CMF-B platform, Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton have been spotted testing together on the roads of Chennai. The latest spy images reveal an interesting detail about both these test mules.
Despite the heavy camouflage, it is still easy to identify which model is which courtesy the choice of camouflage by both manufacturers. While Renault uses a foliage featuring the new multi-layered Diamond brand logo, Nissan uses a wrap comprising a fancy design of the letter ‘N’. The images suggest a very similar silhouette for both SUVs, however, underneath they are likely to be very different from each other.

Both SUVs feature distinct styling elements across the lighting, grille, and front and rear bumpers. The new-generation Duster stands out with its Y-shaped DRLs and tail-lamps, while the Nissan Tekton adopts C-shaped lighting signatures at both ends. In profile, each model is expected to get uniquely designed alloy wheels and differentiated door trims. However, shared elements will include the wheel-arch cladding, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.

In terms of features, the equipment for Renault Duster and Nissan Tecton will remain largely similar accompanied by modern and tech-focused interiors. Both SUVs will have a spacious cabin and plenty of storage spaces. Likely features include automatic air conditioning, dual-zone climate control, an electric parking brake, wireless charging, keyless entry, premium upholstery, and a high-end audio system.

The new-gen Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton will share the same powertrain options. Internationally, the Duster is offered with multiple engine options, but the India-spec model is expected to feature only a limited selection. Initially, there will be a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine on offer. At a later stage, strong hybrid and CNG options will also be introduced. AWD is also reportedly going to be on offer.
