The new Bolero is expected to replace the Bolero Neo in the company’s portfolio.
Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to unveil the next-generation Bolero, with fresh spy shots offering the clearest glimpse yet into the upcoming SUV’s exterior design. Slated to be showcased as a near-production concept on August 15, 2025, the new Bolero is expected to replace the Bolero Neo in the company’s portfolio, while the long-serving standard Bolero may continue alongside.

The newly surfaced images underscore Mahindra’s strategy of blending rugged utility with a modernised aesthetic. The SUV retains the boxy, upright proportions that are a hallmark of the Bolero brand, but introduces notable design evolutions. A high-set grille, round projector headlamps, and a layered front fascia with a closed-off midsection and a pronounced central air intake give the front end a bolder and more aggressive look. The squared-off bumper with wide-set indicators enhances the SUV’s utilitarian styling.
Further design cues draw from the original Bolero DNA, such as the clamshell bonnet and pronounced wheel arch flares, while integrating a cleaner, more sculpted side profile. The upright silhouette and window line suggest continuity with the Bolero Neo, but softened body panels and more muscular rear haunches hint at a modern reinterpretation. Interestingly, the SUV’s rear design, with its stubby overhang and tailgate-mounted spare wheel, evokes comparisons with the Land Rover Defender.

While interior details remain undisclosed, spy shots confirm the presence of grab handles on the A- and B-pillars, a functional inclusion aimed at off-road and rural usability. Given Mahindra’s upcoming announcement of an all-new vehicle platform on the same August 15 event, industry insiders speculate that this next-gen Bolero could be one of the first models to be underpinned by it. If so, this would represent a significant shift from the current ladder-frame architecture used in the Bolero Neo.
The new Bolero is expected to maintain its sub-4 metre classification, helping Mahindra benefit from lower GST rates applicable to small cars and SUVs in India. The continued presence of both the new Bolero and the older standard model may suggest a two-pronged approach — offering a more modern urban/rural crossover while still retaining the hard-core utilitarian version for legacy buyers.
