Bookings for the fourth-gen Swift opened last week.
Maruti Suzuki's much-awaited launch of the new Swift in India on May 9 has generated significant buzz, promising a generational leap in this compact hatchback segment. Bookings opened last week for a token amount of ₹11,000 and now we have a confirmation on its India launch.
The upcoming Swift showcases a refined exterior design, with subtle yet impactful changes. Notably, a revamped radiator grille, redesigned headlamps, and fog lamps contribute to a sharper aesthetic. The shift in the placement of the Suzuki emblem and the repositioning of rear door handles offer a more conventional yet stylish appeal. Moreover, the addition of new alloy wheel designs and C-shaped tail lamps enhances its overall contemporary look.

Maruti Suzuki will aim to elevate the Swift's appeal with an array of new features. Anticipate additions such as a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents, and LED fog lamps. The inclusion of a sizable 9-inch touchscreen with connected technology promises to enhance the overall driving experience. Notably, essential features like cruise control, auto climate control, and steering-mounted controls are expected to be retained.
In a move towards bolstering safety standards, the new Swift is set to come equipped with six airbags as standard across all variants, a significant improvement from its predecessor. Additionally, features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and hill start assist further reinforce its safety credentials. However, the Swift has not yet been crash-tested by Bharat NCAP although it received a lowly 1-star rating in the 2022 tests by Global NCAP.

The introduction of an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E engine promises a refined driving experience, with a respectable power output of 80 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. While slight reductions in power are noted compared to the outgoing model, the real highlight lies in the fuel efficiency figures. A recent brochure leak revealed that the upcoming Swift will return a fuel efficiency of 25.72 kmpl.
