Staying true to Maruti’s ethos of fuel-efficient cars, the new Swift claims to be 14 per cent more economical than before.
Maruti Suzuki’s most popular moniker, the Swift, returns to India in its fourth generation avatar. With it, the company has also introduced a new Z-Series, 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that claims to be more economical than the outgoing model.
With the new generation Swift, Maruti Suzuki has replaced its 1.2-litre K12B, 4-cylinder petrol engine with the new series of engines however, it loses one cylinder with reduced output. However, staying true to Maruti’s ethos of fuel-efficient cars, the new Swift claims to be 14 per cent more fuel-efficient than before. Let’s see how it stacks up against its key rivals.

Maruti Suzuki's latest Swift boasts a new 3-cylinder engine, which, despite generating slightly lower power and torque compared to its predecessor, the 4-cylinder K-Series unit, achieves Maruti's ambitious fuel efficiency goals.
This is primarily accomplished through enhanced volumetric efficiency, with each cylinder now boasting a 400 cc capacity. Additionally, this engine configuration is optimally tailored for Swift's urban-centric usage, further enhancing its performance in city driving conditions.
