New PS5 Model Launching for the 2023 Holiday Season

Sony has announced that a new PS5 model will hit stores this November, just in time for the busy holiday shopping season. The new PS5 aims to provide more flexibility and options for gamers. It has a smaller form factor, with volume reduced by 30% and weight decreased by 18-24% compared to previous models.

There are now four separate cover panels, including glossy and matte finishes. Sony is also launching a new attachable Ultra HD Blu-ray drive for those wanting disc drives. It can be purchased separately for $79.99 and allows PS5 Digital Edition owners to add a disc drive later on if desired.

The new PS5 models will start rolling out in November in the U.S. at select retailers and on playstation.com. It will continue launching globally over the next few months. Once inventory of old models sells out, the new PS5 will be the only one available for purchase.

Pricing for the new models in the US is as follows: PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive - $499.99 PS5 Digital Edition - $449.99

The new PS5 will come with a horizontal stand. A separate vertical stand compatible with all PS5 models will also be sold for $29.99. Additional PS5 cover colours will launch in early 2024, including matte black and multi-coloured “Deep Earth” options. Prices start at $54.99.

Sony is gearing up for major PS5 sales this holiday season with the new models with big game launches like Spider-Man 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and more coming up.
