The NHAI has launched a 15-day drive to inspect various stretches and identify areas which are prone to damage or run the risk of waterlogging.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced on Monday that it will take proactive measures this monsoon to address flooding and waterlogging on highways across the country. The agency will adopt a multi-pronged strategy to implement effective solutions. As part of this approach, NHAI has launched a 15-day inspection drive during which officials, contractors, and consultants will assess various stretches to identify critical areas that are prone to damage or likely to be affected by water accumulation.

While efforts are underway to repair potholes and desilt culverts, cross drains, weep holes, and other drainage systems, the NHAI will also clean and desilt rainwater harvesting structures, and install additional drains and outlets to ensure smooth water flow.
Additionally, the authority has mobilised emergency equipment, including excavators, sandbags, and warning signage at various waterlogging-prone locations. These measures aim to maintain road connectivity and ensure the smooth and safe movement of traffic during the monsoon season.
