Nissan India Achieves New Milestone, Exports 1.2 Million Units

Nissan India has achieved a new milestone announcing the export of its 1.2 millionth vehicle from India. The Japanese carmaker has been a one-car model (not accounting for the fully-imported CBU – X-Trail) with sales largely driven by the Magnite. With this development Nissan reaffirms India’s pivotal role as a strategic export hub for the company in the AMIEO region. 

The 1.2 millionth vehicle, a Magnite destined for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, was ceremoniously flagged off by Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, at the Kamarajar Port, Ennore, Tamil Nadu. Besides Magnite, Nissan used to export several other models previously including Sunny, Kicks, and Micra to markets like Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.

However, all these vehicles got phased out due to poor sales performance after adoption of BS6 emission norms. Currently, the Magnite is shipped to 65 countries that include both left (LHD) and right-hand driven (RHD) versions. 

Speaking on the occasion, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “This achievement reflects the collective dedication of our teams and the trust of customers across the world in our Made-in-India cars. The Nissan Magnite continues to be a global success story, representing our focus on design, quality, and innovation that transcends borders.”

Nissan Magnite Specs

Nissan updated the Magnite with a mild facelift in December last year with some subtle cosmetic changes and small feature additions. Mechanically though it remained unchanged. The Magnite comes with two petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit. The former makes 72 bhp and 96 Nm of peak torque whereas the latter pushes out 99 bhp and 160 Nm (152 Nm with AT) of torque. 

Earlier this year, the Magnite earned a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for Adult Occupant Protection and 3 stars for Child Occupant Protection. In the latest crash test, Magnite scored 32.31 out of 34 points for adult safety and 33.64 out of 49 points for child safety. It comes with standard safety features such as six airbags, ESC, enhanced pedestrian protection, improved restraint systems and 3-point seat belts for all occupants as standard across all variants.
