Nissan Tekton will share the same underpinnings as the Renault Duster CMF-B platform. Nissan has also planned to launch a seven-seat SUV based on the same in early 2027.

Nissan is looking to bring a new lease of life to India with a renewed force. As a part of that, the company announced a few upcoming new product launches for coming months. Out of them, the most highly anticipated one is arguably the Tekton. Based on the third-gen Renault Duster, the Nissan Tekton will rival a long list of compact SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoria, Tata Sierra, and more.

Earlier supposed to make its debut in February 2026, it has now come to light that the launch of the Nissan Tekton has been delayed. While Nissan hasn’t shared the official reason for this launch, we anticipate it has something to do with the Renault Duster. Nissan has not disclosed the specific reason for the delay in response to Acko Drive’s query, stating only that revised launch timelines will be announced shortly.

Since the Nissan Tekton is derived from the Renault (Dacia) Duster, it is expected that the former will be introduced in the market first. The new Renault Duster made its debut in India recently on 26 January 2026 but prices of the same will be announced in March while deliveries will commence from April onwards in a phased manner depending on the powertrain. We can safely assume that the Tekton will launch only once the Duster has hit the Indian roads. So that leads to an expected launch around mid-2026.

Nissan Tekton: Expected Powertrain

Based on the same CMF-B platform like the Renault Duster, the Nissan Tekton is expected to share the same powertrain as the latter. This includes a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.3-litre turbo petrol unit, and a 1.8-litre strong hybrid petrol unit. Transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearboxes. All-wheel drive will not be offered in the Tekton, at least initially.

Nissan Tekton: Expected Design & Features

Despite sharing the same underpinnings, the Nissan Tekton is expected to feature a distinctly different design from its French counterpart. Earlier, Nissan released the first official sketches of the Tekton, highlighting clear visual departures from the Duster. Both SUVs feature distinct styling elements across the lighting, grille, and front and rear bumpers.

The new-generation Duster stands out with its Y-shaped DRLs and tail-lamps, while the Nissan Tekton adopts C-shaped lighting signatures at both ends. In profile, each model is expected to get uniquely designed alloy wheels and differentiated door trims. However, shared elements will include the wheel-arch cladding, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and dual-tone ORVMs with integrated turn indicators.

In terms of features,  Nissan Tekton is expected to mirror the all-new Renault Duster, featuring a three-tone dashboard with a glossy black finish and a prominent bronze-coloured accent running from the central touchscreen to the side AC vents. It is also likely to be equipped with features such as a wireless charger, automatic climate control, and a sunroof.
