The Dwarka Expressway is an 8-lane highway spanning 563 km.
In a significant development for India's infrastructure, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari shared a video today introducing the newly completed Dwarka Expressway. This engineering marvel marks the country's maiden eight-lane elevated expressway, set to transform connectivity between Delhi and Haryana. Gadkari's post featured the video with the caption, "Marvel of Engineering: The Dwarka Expressway! A State-of-the-Art Journey into the Future."
Its commencement point lies at Shiv Murti on National Highway 8, extending to the Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurugram. What sets this project apart is the pioneering effort to safeguard the environment during its execution; a remarkable 1,200 trees were retransplanted, underscoring the commitment to ecological preservation.
Upon its completion, the Dwarka Expressway is poised to revolutionise travel patterns across the region. A key highlight from the video reveals that the journey time from Dwarka to Manesar will be condensed to a mere 15 minutes, while the route from Manesar to Indira Gandhi International Airport will be streamlined to approximately 20 minutes.
Furthermore, commuters will experience a swift 25-minute drive from Dwarka to the Singhu border, with Manesar to Singhu border travel time projected at approximately 45 minutes. The strategic implications of the project are manifold, including an enhanced connectivity boost for the International Convention Centre located in Dwarka, Sector 25.
The expressway is flanked by three-lane service roads on either side, designed to help mitigate potential traffic bottlenecks. These service lanes also incorporate dedicated entry points to ensure seamless vehicular flow and alleviate congestion concerns.
Astonishing figures underline the scope and scale of the Dwarka Expressway's construction. The video discloses the utilisation of a staggering two lakh metric tons of steel, eclipsing even the Eiffel Tower's steel consumption by a factor of 30. Furthermore, the project has utilised a colossal 20 lakh cubic meters of cement concrete, which is a sixfold increase compared to the quantity employed in the construction of the Burj Khalifa.
