The TVS-owned British outfit will showcase its proposed line-up at the NEC Birmingham in November
This could be the most important chapter in the revival of the Norton brand as the iconic British bike maker will be showcasing its three new engine platforms by the end of the year. In a recent interview with an international publication, Norton CEO Robert Hentsche has confirmed that the brand is building all-new engine platforms that have nothing to do with the 961cc twin, 1200 V4 and the 650cc twin engine platforms that were built during the pre-TVS Stuart Garner-ownership era.

Hentsche mentions that Norton would be announcing its product line-up as well as have a few rideable test bikes by the end of the year. These would be shown at the NEC Birmingham show slated to take place in mid-November. Furthermore, the plan is to have three to four product families to offer distinct flavours to cater to loyalists as well as new enthusiasts of the brand.

We have seen this approach work well with Royal Enfield, who is killing it in the retro modern motorcycle space. Thanks to the efforts of its R&D team at Bruntingthorpe, Royal Enfield now has three distinct engine platforms: the J-series with the 349cc single, the new Sherpa 450 liquid-cooled single, and the 650cc twin. Even the likes of Triumph and Jawa-Yezdi have followed this same mantra in their quest for revival success.

While this remains promising to see the Norton brand coming back into existence and with proper leadership entrusted by TVS, we hope to see the likes of the Norton Dominator roam our Indian streets in a modern avatar.
