Here’s everything you need to know about the Nothing Phone (2).
The Nothing Phone 2 has officially launched in India kickstarting the second-term of Nothing’s phone business. The Phone (1) debuted around the same time, last year and stood out of the common smartphone crowd with its transparent back, Glyph design and price-to-value ratio. Within the first 20 days, the Phone 1 clocked in over 100,000 shipments in India which was quite a feat for a new brand. “We’re building the most compelling alternative to Apple”, Founder Carl Pei once said of Nothing. But when the Phone 1 was unveiled it had mid-range specs, where many expected a flagship. Today, Nothing delivered its first flagship phone, the Nothing Phone 2 and here’s everything you need to know about it.
The Nothing Phone (2) is priced starting at INR 44,999 for the base 8GB+128GB variant, INR 49,999 for the 12GB+256GB variant and INR 54,999 for the 12GB+512GB storage option.
The Nothing Phone (2) goes on sale from July 21 on Flipkart. Nothing is also organising a Nothing Pop-Up event where you can get your hands on the Phone 2 on July 14 in Bengaluru.
The Nothing Phone 2 takes after the Phone 1 with a refined design and packs in a top-of-the-line flagship chipset. The frame is made out of aluminium and the transparent back is covered with 3D glass. It is also a bit slimmer and lighter than the Phone 1 measuring 8.3mm and weighing 193 grams.
The Phone 2 features a larger 6.7-inch OLED display over the 6.5-inch screen on the Phone 1. With LTPO technology, the display automatically switches refresh rate from 1Hz (always-on display) to super-smooth 120Hz. It’s still a Full HD+ resolution, 10-bit panel with Gorilla Glass protection on top. It is also IP54 rated, making it splash-proof in daily use.
It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with an octa-core CPU and is paired with upto 12GB RAM and 512GB storage options to choose from. The Phone 2 runs on Android 13 based Nothing OS with features like the Glyph Composer which has been made in partnership with the electronic music supergroup Swedish House Mafia and an updated Glyph Interface 2.0 that can be customized for individual contacts and notifications.
Nothing has stuck with dual cameras on the back of the Phone 2 but this time its the familiar 50MP primary camera that uses Sony IMX890 sensor with OIS and a 50MP ultra-wide camera that uses Samsung JN1 sensor with EIS. There is a 32MP selfie camera, up from 16MP on the Phone 1. The Phone 2 can record videos at 4K UHD at upto 60FPS and offers features such as Advanced HDR, Motion Capture, 480fps slo-mo recording and more.
The Nothing Phone 2 has stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint reader. The battery on the Phone 2 has also received an upgrade over the Phone 1 and is rated as 4,700mAh. It also supports 45W fast wired charging and a 15W wireless charging capabilities.
