Ola Electric has officially started rolling out the new range of electric scooters equipped with the indigenously developed and manufactured 4680 Bharat Cells at the company's flagship stores across India. A few weeks ago, the company announced that these new battery packs have received ARAI certification under the latest AIS-156 Amendment 4 standards issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Available in a 5.2 kWh configuration, the 4680 Bharat Cells battery pack will make its debut with S1 Pro+. Ola claims that the new battery pack with the 4680 Bharat Cells delivers more range, better performance, and enhanced safety than the current 5.3 kWh battery.

Speaking on the announcement, an Ola Electric spokesperson said, "Our 4680 Bharat Cell-powered vehicles represent a major leap in India’s EV journey. With this indigenous technology now available for customers to experience through test rides at our flagship stores, we are proud to bring the future of performance, range, and safety to the roads today.”

Ola S1 Pro+ Specs

The S1 Pro+ is equipped with a 13 kW motor that delivers rapid acceleration from 0–40 kmph in just 2.1 seconds and a top speed of 141 kmph. The S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) offers an impressive claimed range of 320 km (IDC, with DIY mode). It features four riding modes—Hyper, Sports, Normal and Eco.

The electric scooter offers enhanced safety with segment-first dual ABS and disc brakes at both the front and rear. It comes with a colour palette comprising six shades Passion Red, Porcelain White, Industrial Silver, Jet Black, Stellar Blue and Midnight Blue.

Until now, Ola Electric, like most EV OEMs in India, had been using third-party cells for its electric scooters and motorcycles, all certified under AIS-156. Ola says that the homegrown battery cells are expected to significantly enhance range, performance, improve unit economics, and reduce dependence on global supply chains, especially as its upcoming Gigafactory scales production.
