Omega Seiki hasn’t yet announced a timeline for commercial rollout of the Muse electric rickshaw.

Omega Seiki is one of the leading names in the electric mobility space, particularly in the commercial three-wheeler segment. The New Delhi-based OEM  has now filed a patent for its upcoming electric rickshaw named “Muse”. A prototype of the same was displayed at the 2023 Auto Expo. The biggest talking point about this e-rickshaw is its modern equipment.

The Omega Seiki Muse is the first e-rickshaw in India to offer an air conditioning system. This four-door electric rickshaw features a raked windshield and larger glass area, giving it a distinctive profile while enhancing the sense of space for both driver and passengers. It is equipped with circular LED headlamps, while the turn indicators appear to use halogen units.

Another distinctive element is the extended, roof-mounted rear-view mirror, similar to those seen on luxury buses. Beyond its visual appeal, this setup offers a wider field of vision, which is particularly beneficial for a rickshaw with full-body doors that prevent the driver from leaning out to check traffic.

The doors feature a conventional design with flap-type handles, while the decently sized windows should provide good outward visibility. At the rear, the rickshaw gets a flat boot lid with a large windscreen and vertically stacked lighting elements. The spare tyre is housed within the boot area.

Omega Seiki Muse: Features & Specs

Inside, the 4-door Omega Seiki electric rickshaw gets a simple yet spacious layout. Although images of its interiors aren’t available in the patents filed, it is likely to remain largely similar to the concept prototype displayed previously at the Auto Expo 2023.  A number of premium features were seen such as a touchscreen infotainment system and a wireless charger. The various controls for the rickshaw, including the AC controls, are provided in the panel below the handlebar.

The front compartment of the cabin houses a driver’s seat in quilted upholstery. The rear bench seat is large enough to accommodate three passengers. The Muse will also be the first electric rickshaw in India to come with a squared fixed glass roof. This feature for an e-rickshaw does seem a bit extravagant.

In terms of functionality, the Omega Seiki Muse employs an 8-kWh NMC battery pack that claims an IDC certified range of 150 km on a full charge. However, the company says that the true range will be around 100 km. The Omega Seiki Muse has a top speed of 50 kmph and a kerb weight of 500 kg, along with a gradeability of 30 percent. It is also equipped with a 15 percent regenerative braking system to help enhance overall driving range.
