More details about OnePlus' first foldable, the OnePlus Open foldable will be revealed on October 19.

Ahead of the OnePlus Open Launch on October 19, the company has revealed key design and camera details of its first foldable phone. According to OnePlus, the Open represents the new standard for premium foldables in 2023.

The OnePlus Open aims to strike a balance between portability, durability, and flagship-level imaging in a folding form factor.

The highlight of the OnePlus Open foldable is its Flexion "water-drop" hinge, which enables a gentle fold angle and pressure relief, reducing strain on the display. It uses 69 components as opposed to 100+ in typical folding hinges, significantly cutting down on weight. The Open also uses aerospace-grade titanium alloy and carbon fiber for reinforcing strength without extra bulk.

In terms of the cameras, Sony's new LYTIA-T808 camera sensor on the OnePlus Open provides superb imaging in a compact size thanks to its dual-layer pixel technology. The 8-axis turn mechanism in the hinge spreads pressure evenly to minimize display deformation. Micro-incisions in the carbon fiber further relieve strain.

Another thing that makes it a OnePlus phone is the Alert Slider, a signature OnePlus feature. It has been optimized to retain full functionality in a slim folding form factor. The slider button size has been increased for easier one-handed use. Specifically, the slider module size has been reduced by 1.7mm in height and 1mm in width compared to the OnePlus 11.

More details about OnePlus' first foldable, the OnePlus Open foldable will be revealed on October 19, when it officially launches in India.
