The second-generation OnePlus Watch is set for a 2024 launch.
In March 2021, OnePlus launched its last smartwatch, which was accompanied by a limited edition model. This was the original OnePlus Watch, boasting a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass and an impressive 14-day battery life. While the company has not yet officially announced a successor, it's in the limelight for prepping the launch of its debut foldable smartphone.
Recent leaks suggest a projected timeline for the new smartwatch, shedding light on its design cues. Max Jambor took to Twitter to unveil that the second-generation OnePlus Watch is set for a 2024 launch, featuring a circular display.
This design choice resonates with a prevailing trend in OnePlus devices. Both the OnePlus 11 and 11R showcase a circular camera array on their reverse. Similarly, leaked images of the forthcoming OnePlus Open smartphone display a circular camera setup.
It's anticipated that the Watch 2 will operate on OnePlus's proprietary RTOS, sidestepping Android Wear. The integration is expected to be seamless with OnePlus hardware, and compatibility with iPhones is on the cards, addressing a challenge often faced by many Android Wear devices.
