Polestar 5 debuts in Gran Turismo 7 this December after a deep collaboration with Polyphony Digital. The car’s real-world dynamics are claimed to be replicated digitally in the game.
Polestar, the Volvo-owned electric performance brand, has announced that its Polestar 5 electric sedan will be introduced into Gran Turismo 7 for PlayStation 4 and 5.
The model was showcased at the GT World Series event in Los Angeles this weekend and will officially launch in the game in December 2025.
Polestar and Polyphony Digital, a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment, granted each other access to their development facilities and teams to create an accurate digital representation of the Polestar 5.
The collaboration involved professional racing driver and sim-racer Igor Fraga, who tested prototype Polestar 5 vehicles at Polestar's development facilities in Sweden and at the Brands Hatch circuit in England.
Fraga's real-world driving feedback was used by Polyphony Digital to fine-tune the in-game handling and dynamics simulation, ensuring that lap times in the game mirror those achieved in real-world testing.
Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo Series Producer, stated that the collaboration marks the first time the two brands have worked together and that the development team at Polestar dedicated significant effort to crafting the car's driving experience.
Joakim Rydholm, Head of Driving Dynamics at Polestar, noted that the digital version replicates the real-world driving feel of the Polestar 5 accurately.
The partnership between Polestar and Polyphony Digital is set to continue over multiple years. Alongside the December update, a special Polestar time trial event will take place in Gran Turismo 7. The winner of this event will receive a trip to Fukuoka, Japan to attend the World Finals of the 2025 GT World Series.
The Gran Turismo franchise, regarded as one of the most accurate driving simulators, has surpassed 100 million sales worldwide.
