The goal of Snapdragon Seamless is to enhance multi-device connectivity.

At the Snapdragon Summit 2023, Qualcomm announced the launch of Snapdragon Seamless, a new cross-platform technology that allows devices using different operating systems to connect and work together seamlessly. With Snapdragon Seamless, peripherals like mice, keyboards and headphones can switch between devices, files and windows can be shared across platforms, and experiences like XR can extend smartphone capabilities.

The goal of Snapdragon Seamless is to enhance multi-device connectivity and experiences for consumers in a world where the average U.S. household has 21 digital devices. The technology aims to increase interoperability between devices from different manufacturers and operating systems, overcoming limitations of single-manufacturer or single-OS ecosystems.

Snapdragon Seamless has been incorporated into Qualcomm's latest premium mobile, PC, wearable and hearable platforms, including Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Snapdragon X Elite and others. Qualcomm says it will be extended to platforms like XR, Auto and IoT in the future.

According to Qualcomm, some potential Snapdragon Seamless use cases could include mice/keyboards working across PCs, phones and tablets; seamless file and window dragging between platforms; automatic audio source prioritization for wireless earbuds; and XR experiences powered by smartphones.

Major device manufacturers and OS developers like Microsoft, Android, Xiaomi, ASUS, Honor, Lenovo and OPPO are collaborating with Qualcomm to enable multi-device experiences through Snapdragon Seamless. The first consumer devices featuring the technology are expected to arrive as early as this year.
