With just 28,968 km on the odometer, Queen Elizabeth’s Range Rover was part of the Royal household for over 7 years.
Traveling in style can sometimes become such a bore, with a bit more panache and exclusivity why not make that whole experience more royal?
If you’ve been thinking along these lines, we have news for you. The British Royal Household has sold off Queen Elizabeth II’s Land Rover Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography LWB and the same is listed for sale on UK’s automotive website Pistonheads for £224,850 (roughly translates to Rs 2.37 crore as per current exchange rate standards).
Yes, this is the same Land Rover Range Rover that not only used to escort Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh to and fro from official events in and around London but was also spotted being driven by Her Royal Highness sometimes.
For history nerds, this LWB Range Rover was commissioned in 2016 and this was the same year that saw the historic state visit of former U.S. President Barack Obama and the First Lady Michelle Obama. The same Range Rover was used to escort them to the Buckingham Palace.
Being a royal car, several modifications were made by Land Rover Workshop in Gaydon to fit certain requirements made by the Royal Household. Like the side step for easy egress and ingress for the Queen, and a police siren. Although these two have been removed for homologation purposes, a set of grab handlebars specially requested by Her Majesty, along with a warning label for the police siren have been retained. In addition to that, second-row passengers also benefit from the spacious legroom that comes from the extra wheelbase.
Aside from the above, mechanically the Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography is the same as the standard models. Up front is a 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, paired to a 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. Her Majesty’s Rover can dash from 0-100 kmph in just 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 kmph.
If you’re reading this article and have the means to purchase this Rover, we can assure you that this is one of the best used Range Rover in the market that is almost close to mint condition. Coupled with the fact that this Range Rover has done just 29,968 km with Her Highness on board, this is probably the most important car of the 21st century that is up for grabs.
