The Velar was the only Range Rover model not to have an Autobiography trim.
There’s no stopping JLR from launching new variants of all its cars. The latest one to launch in the market is the Range Rover Velar Autobiography, which has launched in India at ₹89.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This is the most luxurious version of the Velar, as suggested by the Autobiography name.
The Range Rover Velar Autobiography is offered with two engine choices – a 246 bhp, 365 Nm, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 201 bhp, 430 Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine. Both the petrol and diesel variants of the Velar Autobiography are priced at the same ₹89.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The Autobiography retains the same basic design as the regular Range Rover Velar. But it gets copper accents in the bumpers, doors and badging on the bonnet and tailgate. It even gets a different design for the 20-inch alloy wheels. The Velar Autobiography is available in six colours – Fuji White, Santorini Black, Varesine Blue, Arroios Grey, Ostuni Pearl White and Batumi Gold. All colours, except the Santorini Black, get a black contrast roof.
The cabin of the Range Rover Autobiography is also slightly different. The front seats get a 20-way massaging function, leather interior and suede headliner. Rear seat passengers get an electric reclining function and configurable ambient lighting. Other features include an 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch virtual cluster, four-zone climate control, an air purifier, a 360-degree camera, terrain response system, air suspension and more.
The Velar is also available with the Dynamic SE variant, priced at ₹84.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and comes with the same 2.0-litre petrol engine as the Autobiography. It gets features like 14-way powered front seats, panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control and more.
Primary rivals for the Range Rover Velar include the BMW X5 (₹97.80 - 1.12 crore, Mercedes-Benz GLE (₹1.01 - 1.19 crore), Audi Q7 (₹90.48 - 99.81 lakh) and Volvo XC90 (₹1.04 crore). The Velar is actually the most affordable model compared to all its rivals, despite all of them being locally assembled.
