The right-hand drive version was revealed in South Africa and it will be launched there in March 2025.
The Renault Duster, which is slated to come to India soon, was revealed earlier this year but that was the left-hand drive version. Now, a right-hand drive version has been revealed in South Africa and this will be the version that comes to our market.
Unsurprisingly, it looks exactly like the Renault Duster that was revealed for the Turkish market in February this year. The only obvious difference between the two versions is the drive orientation. The car showcased in South Africa will launch in March 2025, and it is expected to arrive in the Indian market around the same time.
The Duster is an iconic nameplate for Renault in India. The first-gen model was introduced in 2012 and was sold in India for 10 years. The Duster also helped Renault become a popular brand in India. The upcoming Duster is one of the first launches Renault has planned for the next couple of years and it’ll be followed by the three-row Bigster, the facelifted Kiger and a small electric vehicle (EV).
The powertrain details of the upcoming India-spec Duster remain a mystery. The global version comes hybrid powertrain with a 1.6-litre petrol engine and two electric motors as well as a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 48V mild hybrid assist and 4x4 hardware and a 1.0-litre petrol engine which also gets the option of an LPG kit.
The India-spec Duster is likely to come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, reverse camera, wireless charger, and more.
Once launched, the Renault Duster will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Astor, Citroën Basalt and Tata Curvv.
