The 100,000th vehicle produced by Rivian was the R1S SUV.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has achieved a significant production milestone. The American EV maker has rolled out its 100,000th model from its facility in Normal, Illinois. The 100,000th vehicle produced by Rivian was the R1S SUV.

While Rivian was founded in 2009, it began series production of cars in 2021. In February 2023, Rivian crossed the 25,000-unit production mark. Since then, it took Rivian slightly more than a year to produce 75,000 units.
For reference, Rivian’s primary rival Tesla recently crossed the six million production milestone. Tesla achieved its one million production milestone in 2020 (it was founded in 2003 and production began in 2008) and has since produced five million more electric vehicles.
Rivian currently produces the R1S SUV, R1T pickup truck and the Electric Delivery Van (EDV) in the US. The EDV is currently built primarily for Amazon, as part of a contract between the two firms. Recently, Rivian introduced two new models that will go on sale in the USA from 2026 onwards. The R2 will be available first, followed by the R3 and its high-performance version, the R3X.
