The test mules further indicate that the bikes are almost production ready.
After the Shotgun 650, Royal Enfield has three more new motorcycles to launch as per its 4-bike launch/ year strategy that they announced in 2023. While reports believe that the Scram 450 will be the next offering, the Classic 650 and Scram 650 will be the next to hit the roads by this year itself. Test mules of the latter two bikes have already been spotted several times, and latest spy shot indicate that the bikes are almost production ready.
Built on the same 650 cc platform, both the Royal Enfield Scram 650 and Classic 650 will be powered by the same 648 cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 47 bhp and 52 Nm. This power and torque figure is expected to remain the same in the upcoming two motorcycles. However, the way they deliver power might be slightly tuned to suit to the bike’s characteristics. Moreover, with the Scram 650, a Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 will be on the cards next soon.
Stark differences between the Royal Enfield Scram 650 and Classic 650 are quite apparent from the way they have been styled. While the former will join the ranks of premium 650 cc offerings which include the Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650, while the latter will be slotted among the likes of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
Therefore, equipments like upside-down telescopic fork, RE’s Tripper Dash and black engine bays will be some of the major design highlights in the Scram 650. While the Classic 650 will get a conventional telescopic fork, a simple instrument cluster and a silver engine bay instead. The iconic twin exhaust set up will feature in the Classic 650, while the Scram 650 will get a single-exhaust setup instead.

Royal Enfield has not revealed any official date for the launch of these two new 650 cc motorcycles. However, given how the products will slot in the brand’s line-up, we expect the Classic 650 will launch in the first quarter of FY24-25, while the Scram 650 will launch later after it is showcased at the EICMA motorcycle show in Italy later this year. The Royal Enfield Classic 650 could be priced very close to the Interceptor 650 while the Scram 650 will be closer to the Shotgun 650.
