Himalayan 450 with a ₹54,000 increase from Himalayan 411, offers a great deal for the added features and new engine.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan, is generating significant anticipation as one of the most awaited motorcycles as it goes on sale at ₹ 2.69 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai) onwards. This is an introductory price till December 31. Thus, making it ₹ 54,000 expensive than the outgoing 411. With this pricing, the new Himalayan takes the fight head on to the KTM 390 Adventure (in its various avatars), Triumph Scrambler 400 X, BMW G 310 GS, and Yezdi Adventure.
Revealed recently, the production version maintains the Himalayan's iconic industrial design with a round LED headlight, small windscreen, and an imposing front-end featuring USD suspension, 21-inch spoke wheels, and a large mudguard.
Distinct changes include a redesigned fuel tank, visually larger than its predecessor, and a petite centre panel. The split seats and chunkier exhaust muffler with a brushed aluminum finish enhance the overall aesthetic.
Under the hood, the Himalayan boasts a new 451.65 cc, single-cylinder engine — the first Royal Enfield series production motorcycle with liquid cooling. With peak power at 8,000 rpm, generating 39.50 bhp and 40 Nm torque, it's a departure from the outgoing long-stroke motor.
The trellis frame and suspension setup, featuring USD forks and a monoshock unit, promise a sturdy chassis. The bike rides on 21-18 inch spoke wheels with off-road spec tyres, complemented by disc brakes on both ends and standard dual-channel ABS.
