The hardcore Himalayan will be based on the Dakar racer the company is working on
For those who were waiting for a more serious version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan, something that will make the bike more geared for trail bashing, there’s some disappointing news. The Himalayan Raid, that’s what it is likely to be called, is likely not to arrive in a couple of years.
The Himalayan 450 Raid will be built on the new Sherpa 450 platform and is anticipated to feature improved underpinning cycle parts with a focus on increasing the bike’s off-roading capabilities. It is expected to be less well-rounded than what it is, as all efforts and focus are directed toward making it exceptionally well-suited for off-road conditions.
The New Himalayan 450 Raid will be equipped with fully adjustable suspension both at the front and rear. It will have improved ground clearance surpassing the already impressive 230 mm of the current Himalayan. While there might be a potential increase in seat height. There might be the inclusion of rally-ready components such as the rally sump, engine guards, and standard knuckle guards as anticipated. Additionally, tubeless spoke wheels will be a standard feature.
The New Himalayan 450 Raid will likely have a visual resemblance to the 450 but with a taller profile. It is expected to come in a single colour. While the potential for more power from the engine exists, it remains uncertain whether Royal Enfield will go to that extent.
The initial plan of Royal Enfield was to unveil the Himalayan 450 Raid in late early 2026. However, it has been delayed by a few months, with a high chance that the bike might make its official debut at EICMA 2026. The launch in India is expected to happen in early 2027.
In terms of pricing, the Himalayan 450 is likely to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom), aligning with the expected pricing of the next generation KTM 390 Adventure that was spotted on test in India recently.
