The larger Himalayan will be more of an adventure tourer, meant to take on the Kawasaki Versys 650
The larger twin-cylinder Himalayan that many have been dreaming of has once again been spotted on test. The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 has been in the pipeline for a while and the prototype was spotted in Europe, likely near its testing grounds in Spain. And there is a lot to be looking forward to on the larger Himalayan.
For starters, the bike will not be as off-road focused as the Himalayan 450. Both models will continue to co-exist as the new Himalayan 750 will be the more touring-oriented model. We already know that Royal Enfield is looking to upgrade its 648 cc parallel-twin motor to displace another 100 cc at least, which will first debut on the new Interceptor 750 and Continental GT 750 at EICMA 2025 motorcycle show. This new mill will then make its way onto the Himalayan and other current parallel-twin models as well.
With the displacement going up, power and torque are also expected to increase. Currently, the 648 cc mill makes roughly 47 bhp and 55 Nm, which could shoot up to 50-55 bhp and 60-65 Nm. This will make the motor more eager and even better suited for highway stints than what it currently is. And that will be great on the adventure tourer as it will not have the same irritating buzziness that the Sherpa 450 is plagued with.
The Himalayan 750 does look like a beefed up version of the 450, with a proper tall and adjustable windshield, half fairing and chunky wheels. The new and dedicated split dual-cradle frame will have a bolted-on subframe that looks more or less like the current 450. Expect Royal Enfield to offer the nifty adjustable seat height option with the larger Himalayan as well. Given Royal Enfield’s affinity for metal, it will be a heavy beast for sure, hopefully around the 220 kg mark. Anything heavier and it will be super challenging to manage.
The chassis will be suspended on a USD fork and monoshock setup. On the prototype, one can see the adjustable knobs on the fork tops. However, that might just be present to get the tune spot on for the final product. It is sporting a 19-/17-inch spoke wheel setup and alloys or tubeless spoke wheels are also likely to be made available in the future. Lastly, the bike will get a dual disc brake assembly at the front to offer adequate stopping power for a bike of its capabilities.
Currently, the test mule is seen with a lot of testing equipment on board. The final dash is likely to be the same as the circular console of the current Sherpa 450 platform as well as the Bear 650.
We think that Royal Enfield might show a concept/prototype of the Himalayan 750 at EICMA 2025 with the launch or final form to take shape in late-2026 or early-2027. The asking price of the adventure motorcycle should be around the ₹4 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
