Royal Enfield might be taking a leaf out of Triumph’s book and bring forth a naked and an urban scrambler soon
Royal Enfield is raising eyebrows with signs of two potential new motorcycle launches. Trademark filings in India for a "Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450" hint at an upcoming expansion of the brand's offerings. Hence the question that pops, “Could the Guerrilla be a variant of the Hunter 450 destined for the Indian market?” These developments suggest Royal Enfield's ambition to broaden its reach in the global motorcycle market, but details regarding the official launch and specifications remain to be seen.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 450 is expected to be positioned as a stylish and practical street bike. Alloy wheels, a well-positioned handlebar, and mid-set footpegs suggest a comfortable riding posture for daily commutes and highway cruising.
Meanwhile, the Guerrilla 450 could lean towards the scrambler genre. Raised handlebars, dual-purpose tyres, and a bit more travel at both ends could improve its overall appeal. Not to mention, there’s a high likelihood that the Guerrilla could end up using a 19-/17-inch wheel setup.
At the heart of both motorcycles lies the much-anticipated Royal Enfield Sherpa 450 engine. This liquid-cooled, short-stroke engine has already garnered interest Himalayan 450, producing a respectable 39.5 bhp and 40 Nm of torque. However, housed in a potentially lighter chassis than the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, this engine might have a peppier feel to it.
Both the Royal Enfield Hunter 450 and Guerrilla 450 are expected to feature disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels. A dual-channel ABS system is also likely to be included, although the switchability of this system remains unconfirmed at this stage.
Hunter 450 to be the more affordable option, potentially featuring a basic set of features. The Guerrilla 450, on the other hand, might have premium features and come at a slightly higher price point. We think that the Hunter 450 could be priced at ₹ 2.20 lakh while the Guerrilla’s pricing to start from ₹ 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
