Royal Enfield and its juggernaut of new product launches doesn’t seem to end soon. While we’re prepping up for the launch of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 on November 7, the upcoming Royal Enfield 650 Scrambler has been spotted testing overseas. The new scrambler motorcycle will be based on the Interceptor 650 and from the looks of it, the upcoming motorcycle looks almost production ready.
While the headlight, fuel tank and the frame is identical to the Interceptor, there are many visual differentiations as well. Starting with the restyled mudguards, the centre panel is different, single-pod instrument console, stubby exhaust muffler similar to the Hunter 350, circular tail light and LED indicators. On the hardware front, the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 will run a 19-17-inch spoke wheel setup with semi knobby rubber. The frame is suspended on a USD fork and while the bike still continues to employ a twin shock absorber, the travel is higher. To better suit the Scrambler DNA, the bike also gets taller and wider handlebar.
On the mechanical front, things would be quite familiar. The Scrambler 650 will be powered by the same 650cc, parallel-twin engine as seen on the Interceptor 650 delivering 47 bhp and 52 Nm. The 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch will be carried forward, what remains to be seen is whether it gets switchable ABS or not. The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 will be the first off-road centric bike based on the 650 twins platform. We expect the upcoming Royal Enfield bike to make its India debut in the first half of 2024 and it could be priced around Rs 3.30 to Rs 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
