RSB Group Chairman R.K. Behera Receives Honorary Doctorate from President of India

R.K. Behera, Chairman of RSB Group, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at a formal ceremony organised by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur. The recognition acknowledges his long-standing contributions to entrepreneurship, industrial development, and sustained social responsibility initiatives spanning nearly five decades.

An alumnus of NIT Jamshedpur — formerly known as the Regional Institute of Technology (RIT) — Behera has maintained an association with the institution for over 52 years. He has consistently highlighted the role of his academic foundation in shaping his leadership philosophy, citing the values of discipline, accountability, and social responsibility instilled during his formative years.

Headquartered in Pune, RSB Group has grown into a globally active automotive components manufacturer with 18 production facilities across India and overseas markets, including Mexico. The Group serves a diverse customer base and remains focused on quality-led manufacturing, operational discipline, and technology-driven innovation. Its product portfolio includes propeller shafts, gearboxes, and components for electric vehicles, aligning with evolving mobility trends.

The Honorary Doctorate also reflects Behera’s active engagement in industry–academia collaboration. RSB Group works closely with NIT Jamshedpur on initiatives such as digital twin projects, enabling students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. These collaborations aim to bridge academic learning with industrial practice while supporting skill development among future engineers.

On being conferred the honorary doctorate, Behera said, “The honorary doctorate from NIT Jamshedpur, conferred at the ceremony by the Hon’ble President of India, is one of the most meaningful moments of my life. I see this recognition not as a personal achievement, but as a deeper responsibility towards society and the nation.”
