Samsung has announced that its first Galaxy F-series smartphone of 2024, the Samsung Galaxy F15, will be launched in India at 12pm on March 4. The low-cost Galaxy F15 is said to offer multiple segment-first features such as a Super AMOLED display and a 6000mAh battery. Samsung’s promise of four generations of Android version updates as well as five years of security updates will also likely tempt buyers who are looking for a smartphone that will not need to be upgraded or replaced for at least that long. No details about pricing and variants have yet been confirmed, but Samsung defines this phone’s segment as between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15,000 per unit. The Galaxy F15 will be available on Flipkart in addition to Samsung’s own online and offline stores and authorised retail partners.

As per Samsung’s announcement, the Galaxy F15 will come in three colours: Ash Black, Groovy Violet, and Jazzy Green. It will be powered by the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC, which is capable of 5G cellular communication and can support high-res cameras. It is not yet known whether Samsung will leverage all these silicone capabilities or will choose to keep costs down. Other phones in India powered by the same SoC include the Samsung Galaxy A15, Realme 11 5G, Poco M6 5G, and Xiaomi Redmi 13C 5G.

Samsung promises two days of battery life thanks to the Galaxy F15’s 6000mAh battery. Based on its predecessor, the Galaxy F14, this new model is likely to support at least 25W charging but is unlikely to come with a charger in the box. If Samsung chooses to match or exceed the specifications of the previous model, there will be at least one variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Galaxy F15 can also be expected to support dual nano-SIMs and have a 3.5mm audio socket.

An image of the Galaxy F15 sent out by Samsung along with the announcement of its March 4 launch date shows three camera circles on the rear along with an LED flash, although their specifications are currently unconfirmed. The phone also appears to have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The front of the device shows a waterdrop-style notch in the centre of the display for the front camera. The phone has a flat band running around its perimeter and rounded corners. The rear panel also appears to curve slightly inward to meet the frame.

The Galaxy F14 is currently priced starting at Rs. 9,990, while the Galaxy A15 which also uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC and has three rear cameras is listed at Rs. 19,499 onwards, leaving quite a large gap for the upcoming Galaxy F15 to take advantage of.
