The Samsung Galaxy M55 5G and Galaxy M15 5G target different buyers but both boast of premium designs.
Samsung will unveil two new smartphones, the mid-range M55 5G and the more budget-friendly M15 5G, on April 8 at 12pm IST. As with other M-series phones, these two new models will be available on Amazon India in addition to Samsung’s own website and other authorised retailers. The company has previewed some of the two devices’ specifications, but prices have not yet been announced. Design will be a major selling point for both new models.
The Galaxy M55 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen1 SoC with integrated AI capabilities. It will have a 5000mAh battery and support 45W fast charging, however the charger will be sold separately. It has a 6.7-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED+ display with a 120Hz peak refresh rate and 1000nit peak rated brightness.
The primary camera has a 50-megapixel resolution and OIS, and the front camera has the same resolution. There’s also an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera on the rear. Samsung promises AI-enabled features such as Image Clipper, which lets you easily cut subjects out of an image, and Object Eraser, which generates pixels to fill the space left if you want to remove objects from a frame. Moreover, Samsung promises excellent nighttime photo quality.
On the software side, the Galaxy M55 5G will support Samsung Wallet and tap-to-pay functionality for secure payments, digital ID, tickets, and more. This phone will be available in two gradient finishes: Denim Black and Light Green. It is expected to be priced starting below Rs. 30,000.
The more modestly equipped Galaxy M15 5G is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC, however it has a larger 6000mAh battery, and Samsung promises two-day battery life. It has a 6.5-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and up to 800nits brightness.
The company also teases a 50-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and 2-megapixel macro camera on the rear. There’s a 13-megapixel front camera in a waterdrop notch for selfies. This phone has a patterned rear panel and will be available in three colours: Blue Topaz, Celestine Blue, and Stone Grey. It is expected to be priced starting under Rs. 15,000 in India when it goes on sale.
Samsung says it plans, but doesn’t promise, four generations of software updates and five years of security updates for the Galaxy M15 5G.
