Samsung is planning to keep the prices of its upcoming Galaxy S24 lineup the same as its predecessor, the S23 series.
According to a new report from Korean news outlet Hankyung, Samsung is planning to keep the prices of its upcoming Galaxy S24 lineup the same as its predecessor, the Galaxy S23. The tech giant is looking to significantly boost sales of its upcoming flagship smartphones through an aggressive sales strategy and attractive new capabilities.
Despite introducing several new additions and technologies with the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung will reportedly freeze prices at the Galaxy S23's levels. This move aims to make the devices more accessible for consumers amid an expected recovery in the smartphone market next year, the report added.
As part of its sales targets, Samsung expects the Galaxy S24 shipments to exceed 33 million units - an over 10% rise from the S23. The stable pricing combined with new features could drive higher demand and sales volumes.
Some new technologies expected on the Galaxy S24 include real-time translation during calls using advanced generative AI. Additionally, a leaked screenshot confirms the phones will offer emergency texting via satellite connectivity, similar to the feature on recent iPhones. It will allow users to seek help even in remote areas without cellular service.
Previous reports indicate Galaxy S24 units with both Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets will support the satellite SOS texting. Samsung developed its own 5G NTN solution meeting 3GPP standards for two-way satellite communication, though availability may vary by market initially.
