Samsung's next-gen foldable phones were announced last week at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea.
Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 are already available in Russia before their global availability. The phones which were announced last week at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea are available in the country despite sanctions and a promise from Samsung to suspend shipments in the country in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
The Fold5 is now being offered at RUB 189,990 which is around $2,062, higher than the $1799 US price and even the price in India of Rs 154,990. Similarly, the Flip5 also starts at RUB 110,000 which is around $1,200 and higher than the Rs 99,990 price in India.
Interestingly, both the phones are being bundled with wearables with next day delivery and same day store pickup. What’s shocking that the phones are being sold almost two weeks ahead of availability in other global markets. MTS is offering the Galaxy Watch5 with the Fold5, though this should be noted this is last years product.
In the case of the Galaxy Z Flip5, it is being offered with the older Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Pre-orders for all the new devices are up on major online stores such as M.Video, Eldorado, Megafon and Samsung’s authorised store 1galaxy.ru. TASS has also noted that this is not the first time Samsung has offered its flagship phones in Russia ahead of the global schedule.
Earlier this year the Galaxy S23 series was also launched 11 days before other markets.
