The company launched its export programme in 2011
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL), today announced that it has exported a total of 6 lakh units from its manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The company launched its export programme in 2011 with 6,256 units of the made-in-India Volkswagen Vento for the South African market. Since then, the company has expanded to 44 countries across South America, Central America, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, the GCC countries, and the Caribbean region.
The new age products of the group, namely the the company has also kick started exports of the VW Taigun and then the Skoda Kushaq and the VW Virtus.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited said, “Exports from India are an integral part of our global strategy. Crossing the 600,000 units mark is a significant milestone. This success exemplifies our steady commitment to "Make in India" for both the domestic market and the world, with a clear focus on engineering each product for international excellence.”
Skoda Auto India has already announced its entry into the Vietnam market with the Kushaq and Slavia and those will be assembled in Vietnam. To facilitate this expansion, an advanced 16,000 sq. m plant is currently under construction in Chakan, Pune, dedicated to manufacturing these.
