Škoda has revealed its boldest electric concept yet—the Enyaq RS Race, a radical reinterpretation of its flagship electric SUV. Showcased as a one-off performance study, the Race concept builds on the existing Enyaq RS dual-motor variant but strips it down, beefs it up, and gives it the kind of motorsport-infused makeover usually reserved for the brand’s rallying exploits.
One of the key highlights of the Enyaq RS Race is its significant weight reduction. Škoda engineers managed to shave 316 kg off the standard car, primarily by incorporating lightweight materials such as polycarbonate. This brings the total weight down to 1,946 kg—still hefty by racing standards but notably lighter for an EV of this size.
The Race concept also features a dramatic exterior makeover. It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and gets an aggressive aerodynamic package that includes widened wheel arches—72 mm at the front and 116 mm at the rear—alongside extensively modified front and rear bumpers. NACA ducts, winglets, and a prominent rear wing hint at serious aerodynamic intent, improving downforce and airflow to enhance high-speed stability.
Underneath, the chassis has been lowered by 70 mm, and the suspension setup has been reworked with stiffer shocks and springs aimed at sharper handling. To match the performance upgrades, Škoda has installed carbon-ceramic brakes and a limited-slip differential on both axles—a rarity even among high-performance electric vehicles. All of this is intended to bring the Enyaq closer in character to the Fabia RS Rally2, Škoda’s proven rally car.
Inside, the Enyaq RS Race is no longer a family SUV. The cabin has been gutted and replaced with motorsport essentials: racing bucket seats with six-point harnesses, a chrome-molybdenum steel roll cage, and even a hydraulic handbrake lever—colloquially known as a “yank stick”—to allow for more controlled drifts and slides.
Škoda has also introduced a digitalised sound amplifier, which enhances or simulates motor noise inside the cabin to create a racier auditory experience, addressing the common complaint of electric cars feeling “too quiet” for enthusiast driving.
While the powertrain remains unchanged from the standard Enyaq RS—offering 335 bhp via a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup—the reduced weight contributes to faster acceleration. The Enyaq RS Race is capable of a 0–100 kmph sprint in 4.6 seconds, nearly a full second quicker than the road-going variant.
Škoda has also fitted protective skid plates underneath the concept to shield crucial components during aggressive driving or off-road rally stages. This nod to real-world durability underlines the brand’s focus on functional motorsport engineering rather than mere aesthetic changes.
Although the Enyaq RS Race is currently a one-off concept, it provides a clear look into Škoda’s ambitions for performance-oriented EVs. The concept follows other experimental models like the reimagined Škoda Favorit, showcasing the brand’s growing interest in blending heritage, sustainability, and performance.
While there are no production plans confirmed for the RS Race at this point, the concept serves as both a technology demonstrator and a design experiment, hinting at what might be possible in future Škoda electric vehicles. Whether elements of this build make their way into limited editions or influence the next-gen RS lineup remains to be seen.
