Both the Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Virtus have received the coveted 5-star rating in the Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) crash test. Just to remind you, both the Kushaq and the Taigun were also crash tested last year and both the SUVs are based on the same platform. The result was a 5 star rating, back then as well.
Both the Slavia and Virtus received 29.71 points out of a possible 34 in adult occupant safety. The protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was good. Driver’s and passenger’s chest showed adequate protection. Driver’s and passenger’s knees showed good protection. Footwell area was rated as stable. The bodyshell was rated as stable and it is capable of withstanding further loadings.
On the child occupant safety, both the compact sedans received 42 points out of a possible 49 . The child seat for the 3 year old was installed rearward facing using the i-size anchorages and a support leg and it was able to prevent head exposure during the frontal impact offering full protection. This spells good news for both Skoda and Volkswagen, because both these cars are exported to other markets across the world as well.
