Škoda Auto on Monday lifted the curtain on its Vision O concept car, previewing the next generation of its Modern Solid design language and an electrified future for its estate models. Revealed at a world premiere event in Mladá Boleslav, the Vision O blends robust styling, advanced autonomous tech and sustainable materials to showcase Škoda’s “inside-out” customer-first approach.
The Vision O concept builds on Škoda’s long-standing European leadership in the estate (Combi) segment, where Octavia and Superb Combi models have sold over 3.6 million units since 1998. With a length of 4,850 mm and a width of 1,900 mm, the concept delivers estate practicality—650 litres of luggage capacity (expandable to over 1,700 litres with rear seats folded)—in a striking, aerodynamic package optimised for extended electric range.
Inside, the Vision O debuts a minimalist, monochromatic cabin driven by a new Horizon Display that spans more than 1.2 metres across the dashboard. Both front passengers gain customizable read-out options, while a vertical central touchscreen and haptic dial button ensure intuitive control. Škoda’s Bio-Adaptive Lighting automatically adjusts ambient tones to natural light cycles for enhanced comfort, and voice-activated “Laura” AI serves as a smart in-car assistant, guiding occupants on route planning, local information and even storytelling.
Emphasising sustainability, Škoda employs circular-economy principles throughout Vision O’s materials. Seat covers are knitted from 100 per cent recycled polyester, while Ultrasuede NU interiors contain 65 per cent plant-based content. Flooring features NABORE leather made from post-production scraps, and a 3D-printed headrest uses mono-material TPU produced in zero-waste processes. Even small extras, such as a portable Bluetooth speaker, integrated fridge and magnetic wireless charging pods, are designed for repeated reuse.
Under the hood, Vision O previews advanced autonomous driving and a “Tranquil mode” that repositions seats, dims screens and adjusts lighting for relaxation during highway cruising or self-driving scenarios. Škoda’s Vision O app concept extends the in-vehicle experience to smartphones, offering remote loading assistance, window tint control and personalised Horizon Display pre-sets. A forthcoming MyŠkoda app update, powered by Google Gemini AI, will add smart route planning with charging stop suggestions and POI recommendations.
Visually, the Vision O refines Škoda’s Modern Solid exterior with a Tech-loop LED lighting face mask, sliding headlamps that animate during entry and exit, T-shaped rear light signature and illuminated Škoda branding. Active jalousie vents, recessed handles and specialised wheel designs optimise airflow, while a dual-tone mica-pearl paint shifts from warm to cool hues in daylight.
Škoda Auto Chairman Klaus Ziegler stated the Vision O “reflects our customer-first design philosophy and commitment to circularity.” The concept is underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s next-generation platform and signals a production vehicle slated for the next decade, as the brand aims to expand its electrified family and reinforce its top-three European sales target by 2030.
With the Vision O concept, Škoda not only underscores its estate pedigree but also stakes a claim in the competitive BEV arena, marrying functionality, sustainability and digital innovation in a package tailored to modern customer expectations.
