As Samsung gears up to launch the S24 series next week at its Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose, there is much buzz about what Samsung’s next-generation flagship phone will offer consumers. Reports suggest that the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 chipset, while the flagship model, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which could be further customised by Qualcomm for the phone.
In addition, all three models of the S24 series will feature more responsive screens with a 10% improvement in response time. This could enhance the responsiveness of Samsung’s phones in terms of their user interface, as well as the responsiveness of the S-Pen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Samsung has always been renowned for its superior screens, and the S24 Ultra could join the likes of the Pixel 8 and iPhone 15 Pro series in featuring a Super AMOLED screen with a peak brightness of 2600 nits. This would be a significant increase from the S23 Ultra's peak brightness of 1,750 nits. However, phones like the Vivo X100 Pro already offer up to 3,000 nits, and the OnePlus 12 is expected to feature brightness levels of 4,000 nits.
One of the main talking points of this new Galaxy range is expected to be something called Galaxy AI, which Samsung has been teasing. It is said to be Samsung’s foray into generative AI, potentially combining AI-powered apps on the device with services. Galaxy AI could also replace the Bixby assistant.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra model is also expected to adopt a titanium frame, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro series. Samsung is likely to introduce the ISOCell HP2X sensor, a refinement of the 200-megapixel camera system first seen in the S23 Ultra.
