The XAV-AX8500 gets features such as an HD touchscreen, audio customisation and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
Sony has launched a new addition to its car audio visual (AV) receiver lineup, the XAV-AX8500 in India. The new model, priced at Rs 99,990, gets features such as an HD touchscreen, audio customisation and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay to bolster the in-car entertainment experience.
The XAV-AX8500 features a 10.1-inch LCD panel with an optically bonded gapless anti-glare display that Sony says should help in precise touch response and enhanced picture quality. The display offers an HD (1280x720 pixels) resolution and allows customizable icon placement and wallpapers. An internal anti-glare filter reduces sunlight reflections for easier and safer driving.
The receiver offers a range of audio customisation options with its built-in DSP, providing 5-channel processing and time alignment. In addition, a 14-band equaliser lets you fine-tune the sound profile, while LDAC support enables high-resolution wireless audio streaming. Sony claims the 5V preout should deliver improved clarity and less distortion when connected to a power amplifier.
Other key features include an HDMI input for hooking up external AV sources, a tilt and swivel mechanism for the touchscreen allowing ±15 degrees of adjustment, Quick Wake Up for instant start after ignition, three camera trigger inputs, USB Type-C port, three gold-plated pre-out terminals and ergonomic button controls, to name a few.
The XAV-AX8500 comes in a single-DIN chassis for flexible installation in single and double-DIN vehicle dashboards. It will be available at select premium car dealers across India starting February 20, 2024, for Rs 99,990.
