Lando Norris comes second while Charles Leclerc takes the third podium position.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, winning his fifth race in the 2025 season. His teammate, Lando Norris, who came second in the race, wasn’t really far behind, but Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was more than 10 seconds behind the Brit. Rounding up the top five were Mercedes’ George Russell and Kick Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg, respectively.

McLaren bagged another 1-2 finish at the Grand Prix in Barcelona.

Piastri also qualified for the pole position, and as the race started, he built a good lead. Norris started out second, but Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had a better start and overtook Norris before turn 1. Verstappen also took the lead after the first pit stop after undercutting Piastri but was handed back to the Aussie after Verstappen took an early pit. He couldn’t regain the top spot since Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli faced a mechanical issue and forced a Safety Car deployment.

Piastri qualified for pole positition, followed by Norris and Verstappen, respectively.

After the Safety Car went in, Leclerc and Verstappen had a contact which forced Verstappen to take the escape road and was told to hand the position back to the Ferrari driver. Another collision between the two meant Verstappen received a 10-second time penalty. Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton bagged the sixth spot, followed by Racing Bulls’ Isaac Hadjar, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Verstappen in 10th.

While Verstappen crossed the line in 5th position, his penalty meant he ended up 10th.

Piastri maintains his lead with a total of 186 points, 10 points ahead of his teammate Norris who is in second place with 176 points. Verstappen is far behind in third with 137 points, followed by Russell and Leclerc at 111 and 94 points, respectively.
