Suzuki is working on expanding its middleweight portfolio, which is currently populated by the GSX-8R, GSX-8S, and the V-Strom 800 DE. This confirmation comes from an updated executive order by the California Air Resources Board, wherein the Japanese bikemaker registered the 776 cc, parallel-twin mill for 2026 with the addition of two new models – GSX-8T and GSX-8TT.
While details about these upcoming bikes are still under wraps, we reckon that the duo will be more of sports tourers. This assumption primarily stems from the fact that the Suzuki has gone with the “GSX” nomenclature. Therefore, they will not be as hardcore or rugged-looking as the V-Strom 800 DE, which is an adventure tourer. The upcoming Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT will join a growing number of middleweight sports touring bikes like the Triumph Tiger Sport 660, and BMW F 900 XR. These bikes are known for their daily usability and long-distance capabilities, and have of late become quite popular in the European and US market, so clearly Suzuki wants a piece of this emerging segment as well.
Furthermore, the certification also reveals that the 776 cc, parallel-twin mill will produce the same emissions as the 2025 version. Therefore, the upcoming GSX-8T and GSX-8TT might produce the same 82 bhp and 78 Nm as the GSX-8R. The brand might tune the engine mapping a bit to suit the tourer’s character; otherwise, mechanically, it will remain the same.
As for the difference between the two, we believe that the Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT are the names of two variants. While the former will be the standard model, the 8TT will come with more accessories as part of the standard package. So, you can expect a bunch of touring accessories and additional electronic nannies to make their way here, too.
Both the Suzuki GSX-8T and GSX-8TT are expected to break cover later this year at EICMA 2025. It's then when we will learn and find out how these tourer bikes have been designed, but till then all we can do now is wait.
