The brand’s second plant in India will have an annual production capacity of 7.5 lakh units in the first phase.
Suzuki laid the foundation for its second manufacturing plant in India located in Kharkhoda, Haryana. This new manufacturing plant is Suzuki India’s strategy to meet the rising demand for its products in the country, while also supporting local development and creating more jobs.
This new plant will be developed with a capital outlet of ₹1,200 crore and the facility will be spread across 100 acres of land. Initially, the manufacturing facility will cover 25 acres and in the first phase, will reserve the potential for an annual production of 7.5 lakh units. The company will also have an additional 25 acres of land dedicated to green space. The plant is scheduled to commence operation from 2027 onwards, and once functional, it will employ over 2,000 people.
Details about the vehicles being manufactured were not disclosed in the press release. But with Suzuki gradually venturing into the electric mobility space with the new Suzuki e-Access, the addition of a manufacturing plant will help the brand to scale up production.
“The basic concept of this plant is lean manufacturing. It will also feature modern automation and energy-efficient systems, helping us move towards Suzuki’s global vision for carbon neutrality and sustainability,” concluded Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd.
