Food and grocery delivery platform Swiggy on Monday announced that it has partnered with Bounce, an electric mobility company, to push the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) amongst its delivery partners.
In the first phase of this partnership, Bounce will deploy electric scooters across Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru over the next three months.
The partnership aims to make electric mobility more accessible for Swiggy and Instamart delivery partners. This is also a reducing the carbon footprint of hyperlocal deliveries while significantly lowering operating costs for delivery partners.
This comes amid reports of Swiggy looking to appoint two separate heads of finance for food delivery and Instamart, reported ET Prime.
These e-vehicles will be available on the Bounce Daily app as well as Swiggy’s Delivery Partner app at special pricing only for Swiggy and Instamart delivery partners.
Bounce will handle the complete deployment, management, and maintenance of these vehicles, ensuring a seamless experience for riders, the companies have said.
“At Swiggy, we are committed to enabling sustainable solutions that benefit both our partners and the environment. This partnership with Bounce is a significant move towards greener and more cost-effective delivery. We aim to scale this partnership across multiple cities in the country in the coming months.
"We stay committed to our goal of having a 100 per cent electric delivery fleet by 2030 and will explore partnerships with relevant players to ensure we build a robust and sustainable ecosystem enabling widespread adoption of EVs across the delivery partners ecosystem," Saurav Goyal, Senior Vice President-Driver & Delivery Org, Swiggy, said in a statement.
“Our goal at Bounce is to make electric mobility mainstream by removing barriers to access,” said Vivekananda Hallekere, Co-founder & CEO of Bounce.
