This launch is also part of a broader rationalisation of Tata’s SUV lineup, with streamlined personas making variant selection easier.
Tata Motors has launched the new Adventure X variants of its flagship SUVs — the Harrier and the Safari — starting at ₹18.99 lakh and ₹19.99 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, New Delhi). With this aggressive pricing, the homegrown automaker has fired a clear salvo at its Korean and Indian rivals in the hotly contested mid-to-premium SUV segment.
The new Adventure X and Adventure X+ trims introduce segment-first features at these price points, such as ADAS with Adaptive Cruise Control (AT), 360° HD Surround View, Trail Hold EPB with Auto Hold, Trail Response Modes, and a Land Rover-derived Command Shifter for automatic variants.
Other highlights include the Ergo Lux Driver Seat with Memory & Welcome Function, 26.03 cm Ultra-View Twin Screen System, Trail Sense Auto Headlamps, Aqua Sense Wipers, and Multi Drive Modes. Mechanically, both SUVs retain the proven 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine built on the OMEGARC platform derived from Land Rover’s D8 architecture.
Model & Variant | Starting Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) |
---|---|
Tata Harrier Adventure X | ₹18.99 lakh |
Tata Harrier Adventure X+ | ₹19.34 lakh |
Tata Safari Adventure X+ | ₹19.99 lakh |
Hyundai Creta SX (Diesel AT) | ₹18.74 lakh |
Hyundai Alcazar Platinum (Diesel AT, 6S) | ₹20.20 lakh |
Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel AT (5S) | ₹18.99 lakh |
Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Diesel AT (5S) | ₹21.19 lakh |
At ₹18.99 lakh, the Harrier Adventure X matches the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel AT in price but offers a longer feature list, especially around off-road readiness and luxury touches. The Safari Adventure X+, meanwhile, undercuts the XUV700 AX7 Diesel AT by over ₹1 lakh while offering comparable equipment and added 7-seater flexibility.
Compared to Hyundai's offerings, the Harrier Adventure X is only ₹25,000 more expensive than the Creta SX Diesel AT but offers significantly larger dimensions and a more powerful engine. The Safari Adventure X+ also lands very close to the Alcazar Platinum Diesel AT, making it an attractive upgrade for buyers seeking more road presence and capability.
According to Tata Motors, the Adventure X and Adventure X+ variants directly target the core mid-variant offerings from competitors — namely:
These rivals dominate buyer preference in the ₹18–22 lakh range, and Tata is positioning its Adventure X trims as feature-rich, lifestyle-focused alternatives — blending rugged design, premium interiors, and smart off-road features.
The Adventure X trims also sit strategically above Tata’s newly introduced Pure X variant (₹17.99 lakh for Harrier, ₹18.49 lakh for Safari) and below the top-end Fearless X+ and Accomplished X+ trims, making them a sweet-spot offering for enthusiasts and families alike.
With bookings open and deliveries starting today, Tata Motors seems keen on reclaiming ground in the SUV value war. By combining off-road capability, high-end features, and sharp pricing, the Harrier and Safari Adventure X trims aim to lure buyers who would otherwise head straight to Mahindra or Hyundai showrooms.
This launch is also part of a broader rationalisation of Tata’s SUV lineup, with streamlined personas making variant selection easier and more intuitive for customers — a move clearly designed to keep pace with the fast-evolving preferences of India’s SUV-loving public.
