The truck comes with factory-fitted air-conditioning too.
Tata Motors has introduced the LPT 812, a new commercial vehicle that is claimed to be India's first 4-tyre truck capable of carrying a 5-tonne payload. The vehicle targets the intermediate, light, and medium commercial vehicle segment with enhanced operational efficiency and lower ownership costs. The truck comes with factory-fitted air conditioning and is built on Tata Motors' established LPT platform. It combines the strength of 6-tyre vehicles with the efficiency and lower maintenance requirements of 4-tyre trucks while offering better urban manoeuvrability.
Through multiple load body configurations, the LPT 812 supports various applications, including industrial goods transport, market deliveries, fruit and vegetable distribution, and courier services. It is powered by the 4SPCR diesel engine producing 125 bhp and 360 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox and booster-assisted clutch to reduce driver strain during gear changes. Safety features include improved braking systems and heavy-duty radial tyres designed for load carrying.
Additional features include parabolic front suspension with anti-roll bar, full S-Cam air brakes, and tilt-and-telescopic power steering for better comfort and handling. Tata Motors backs the LPT 812 with a 3-year/3 lakh km warranty.
Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, said: "The launch of the Tata LPT 812 sets a new benchmark in customer profitability in the segment. This category-defining truck addresses the growing need for improved productivity, while delivering superior fuel efficiency, ease of operations, and maximum uptime. It reflects our commitment to understanding evolving market requirements, and developing advanced solutions that drive long-term business growth for our customers."
