Citroen has unveiled its third offering in India, the C3 Aircross, following the successful launch of the C5 Aircross and C3 last year. The C3 Aircross is a tech-laden upgrade from the more basic C3, and in some respects, it even outshines its premium sibling, the C5 Aircross, in terms of tech-centric features.
The centerpiece of the C3 Aircross's tech suite is a 10.2-inch infotainment screen. It carries over the intuitive tile-like user interface from the C3, ensuring a user-friendly experience. The system also includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a feature that isn't yet standard across all vehicles in this segment. For instance, even the recently revamped top-tier Kia Seltos lacks this feature.
Citroen has also integrated connected car technology, accessible via the MyCitroen Connect App, which offers 35 smart features. The C-Buddy personal assistant app collects personal data based on your location and daily routine, providing adaptive information prompts. It leverages machine learning to understand your home and office locations, reminding you to depart at optimal times. It can also remind you of Zoom calls and integrates with Android Auto. However, compatibility with Apple's iPhone and CarPlay remains unclear.
The C3 Aircross also features a 7-inch virtual instrument cluster, similar to the one found in the C3. Citroen has included three USB charging ports, two of which offer fast charging for rear passengers. Like the C3, a near-wire guide helps keep the cabin clutter-free.
The vehicle's audio system consists of six speakers, including four full-range speakers and two tweeters. While Citroen doesn't flaunt a high-profile audio brand partnership like Bose or JBL, the system maintains a minimalist aesthetic.
Safety and convenience features include a reverse parking camera system with rear parking sensors and a high-speed alert system. However, the C3 Aircross only comes standard with two front-seat airbags, which is a bit underwhelming. On the brighter side, it does offer ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
On the whole, the C3 Aircross offers a unique blend of tech features, but Hyundai and Kia with the Creta and Seltos do offer more to the customers.
