Tesla's Experience Centre in Mumbai is now fully operational, with the next one in New Delhi expected to open very soon.
Tesla’s online car configuration and buying system makes buying a car almost as simple as ordering a pizza and customising its toppings, but there were a few limitations when the company’s India website went live last week on the day its first showroom in India opened. Buyers could only choose Mumbai, New Delhi, and Gurugram as locations where their car could be registered. However, that has now changed, with the company quietly updating its website to allow users to select from 34 states and union territories.
The change, spotted by TeslaClubIN on X (formerly Twitter), means that users all over India can now book a Tesla Model Y and have it registered in their state, with the price showing relevant taxes and incentives. Tesla does however state quite clearly that prices are still only estimates and might be subject to change due to other variables.
A base variant Tesla Model Y with no add-on options is officially priced at ₹59,89,000 in India, which includes 5 percent GST. According to the estimates shown on the website, the on-road price in Maharashtra will be ₹61,07,190 including ₹7,500 road tax and charges, factoring in EV subsidies. In Haryana, the on-road price rises to ₹67,33,869 thanks to ₹6,34,179 in road taxes.
With all options maxed out, the more expensive long-range RWD variant goes from ₹67,89,000 to ₹78,03,990 in Maharashtra and a whopping ₹86,06,669 in Karnataka, the state with India’s highest road tax. The company might be able to reduce prices in the future by manufacturing vehicles in India rather than importing fully-built units, though it has said it has no plans to do so just yet.

Anyone interested in buying a Tesla in India will have to pay a non-refundable deposit of ₹22,220 at the time of booking, and an additional ₹3,00,000 within seven days. Various options will raise the total price, such as the Full Self Driving package for ₹6,00,000 (which the company says will actually cost more if purchased separately later). The company is even charging between ₹95,000 and ₹1,85,000 for any colour other than the default Stealth Grey.
Tesla tacks a ₹50,000 “administrative and service fee” on to every purchase, and there’s an ₹800 FASTag charge as well. These prices do not include the costs of any home charging equipment a buyer might want to purchase and install.
Despite now opening up registrations all over the country after a years-long wait, the site also notes that customers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram will be prioritised for delivery. The company offers doorstep delivery (via truck, not self-driven) or buyers can pick their car up at a local hub. Tesla India has promised that deliveries will begin in Q3 2025, which has already begun, but there are no specific dates yet.
