December numbers took a dip, but the analysis is driving us into expected January trends.
Sales figures for the top 10 motorcycles sold in December 2023 are out. There is a clear dip in the number of sales, which might be owing to the tapering off of the festive season. Also, many people book their vehicles in December but get them registered in January for the new year registration date. Here is a complete analysis of the top 10 motorcycles in the Indian market.

Hero Splendor does not miss the top spot. It is the most demanded commuter bike. The product is simple and has built the trust of being reliable. Although it has done 23,000 units less than November, it still makes it to the top of the list. Other Hero products are the HF Deluxe and Passion. It clearly indicates that there is very high demand for these high mileage bikes in the Indian two-wheeler market.
None of the products here have achieved higher sales than November. The only product with the closest gap is the TVS Raider, the most sought-after 125 cc sporty commuter. The market desires 125 cc bikes, but users also seek style and tech. The TVS Raider exactly delivers that. Also, noteworthy is that in January 2024, Hero has stepped up to challenge TVS's monopoly with the Xtreme 125R. On the spec sheet, this competes well against the TVS, but its real-world performance is something we need to wait and find out.
Ranking second is the Pulsar, owing to the fact that even this product line comes in the 125cc segment with one of its products. The higher cc Pulsars are doing a fraction of the sales of what the 125cc Pulsar is achieving. Also, with an update to the 150cc and 160cc Pulsar, we expect those to perform well in the coming months. Pricing is key here, as it offers a brand name value and loads of features at a price point well below the competition.
Honda seems to have gone under the radar with its constant position of 3rd place with the Shine. Now that the Shine 100 has been introduced, there might be some change in the volumes of this moniker in the coming months. The Honda CB Unicorn maintains the last position at 17,521 units, selling 2000 units less than last month.
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the only 300 cc and above bike that has achieved more than 20,000 units this month. The sales of the Classic remain quite unchanged, mainly because the bike performs well due to its brand name. What also works in its favor are the improvements brought by the J-series engine.
