The electric two-wheeler space is facing some uncertain times. With geopolitical issues creating blockages for sourcing rare earth magnets, the brunt is being borne by a few electric players. And with the government subsidy structures now aiming for charging infrastructure rather than adoption, manufacturers have had to rejig their existing products. Hence, there have been very few new electric two-wheelers that have arrived this year and here are the five of the best:
After years and years of testing, Suzuki finally rolled out its first electric scooter… almost. The e-Access was shown to the public at Auto Expo 2025 and we even got a brief experience of the e-scooter. But the asking price? A mystery still. Nevertheless, the e-Access builds on the Access 125’s solid and dependability characteristics, offering a similar flavour to the buyers.
A new entrant to the space, the Vida VX2 is Hero finally taking electrics seriously with competitive pricing and a good balance of features. The new e-scooter is fairly conservative in design but elegant still. Its USP is the removable battery packs that allow it to be charged at your convenience. We are going to be riding the new VX2 very soon, so stay tuned to this space for our review.
Amidst dark clouds, Ola’s silver lining for the year so far has to be the arrival of its Roadster electric motorcycle series. So far, Ola is only bringing out the Roadster X and Roadster, which will cater to the commuter centric audiences. It has a rather boxy design language and arrives in rather subtle shades. The deliveries of the bikes have begun now and hopefully, it should help the electric-only company regain its lost top dog status.
Both Bajaj and TVS have updated their respective electric scooter champs for 2025. However, the Chetak 3001 proves to be the more interesting and value-centric proposition of the two. For starters, Bajaj has not hiked the asking price of the low-cost Chetak version by much. To add to that you now get a larger battery and slightly better performance. And considering it is the successor to the 2903, which was one of the most popular Chetak versions, Bajaj has done well in kitting out the 3001 with more than enough necessary features.
A lot was riding on Honda’s first electric scooter for India. Sadly, the Activa e: remains a product that needs to be refined and strategies need to be rethinked with it. At the moment, it is the only e-scooter in the country to offer battery swapping technology and there is no other way of charging it. The performance is rather conservative and range on each charge isn’t great either. Hence, one will not be bothered by being idle due to charging times, the swapping costs aren’t feasible enough. Even after introducing a Lite plan recently, running costs of the Activa e: remain higher than other electric scooters.
