We expect a plethora of new motorcycles in 2024 and picking the five best wasn’t that simple
As dynamic and thrilling as 2023 was, 2024 has the potential to be even more exciting with hot two-wheelers arriving shortly. And here are the five bikes that we think could be the hottest amongst them all.
Imagine all of the soulful charm of the Classic 350 but with a bigger heart, now that’s some deliciousness that Royal Enfield will be cooking up in 2024 with the new Classic 650.
It will be the fifth bike on the 650 twin platform and might just slot in between the Interceptor and the Continental GT 650. It is highly likely that Royal Enfield will use the Super Meteor 650’s frame as the foundation for this new retro roadster, as the Interceptor’s sporty intentions would not work as well as the cruiser’s laidback approach.
The hardware will be simpler. So, there will be a telescopic fork with the metal fork sleeves, the twin rear shocks will not be gas charged and even the subframe will be revised to suit the regal riding posture that one gets astride a Royal Enfield Classic.
We think that the Classic 650 will arrive by mid 2024, following the launch of the Shotgun 650 and maybe even the Shotgun 350.
The biggest Pulsar yet. Yes, Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that 2024 will see the biggest Bajaj motorcycle to adopt the Pulsar moniker and it is very likely to be the NS 400.
No prizes for guessing, the NS 400 is going to be the Pulsar derivative of its Austrian counterpart, the 390 Duke. However, it is highly likely that Bajaj will continue to use the older 373 cc mill for the Pulsar and not the new 399 motor from the third gen 390 Duke. This motor might have a very different tune to what you used to get on the Duke or even what is currently there on the Dominar 400.
And if Bajaj would want to once again stamp its authority and make the Pulsar the technologically superior motorcycle brand that it once was, we could expect some fancy goodies on it like variable valve timing and a quickshifter.
Expect Bajaj to once again ace it when it comes to pricing as we think it could very well undercut the Rs 2.5 lakh mark. The conundrum then is which 400 cc Bajaj manufactured product would you get? The British one, the Austrian one, the Swedish one or the Indian one?
An adventure motorcycle that has been in the works for the better part of three years will finally take its final shape as the larger XPulse is on the cards for 2024.
Hero has announced its Hero World event for January 22 where we will get to see its future products and the XPulse 420 could very well be the star of the show. Even at the last Hero World event in 2020, the prototype platform of the very same bike was shown.
This bike will be powered by an all new liquid-cooled engine that will be tuned for great off-roading as well as be enough for high speed touring. After all, this engine has been Dakar-derived from its rally racer.
You would think that the RC 390 had just received an overhaul, so isn’t it too soon for a new one. But COVID-19 delays affected the second-gen RC’s arrival, and the same isn’t likely to take place for the third-gen model.
Yeah, KTM will be plonking in the new 399 cc motor from the Duke, amping up the handling potential of the supersport even more with a brand new chassis and hardware, and get rid of the hideous face for an even more polarising love-hate design.
And with the segment hotting up with the arrival of the Aprilia RS 457, KTM has to act soon to keep its sportbike title intact for the forthcoming years. And it would be awesome if the price revision was just as economical as it was for the new 390 Duke.
That’s not all, KTM might just be ready to unleash the new 390 Adventure as well by the end of 2024. The spied motorcycle looks production-ready and also ready to unleash fury. It is mostly going to arrive in two trims: a standard touring friendly one and a more hardcore Rally variant. Me likey!
An overhaul for the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has been long in the tooth. The 200 cc naked has been more or less unchanged since its introduction in 2016, with just small updates along the way to keep the bike relevant.
For 2024, we could perhaps see the RTR 200 following its elder sibling the RTR 310’s design philosophy and opt for a more robust handling setup. Also, we wish TVS made the 199 cc motor a bit more touring-friendly and sort of rework the gearbox for it to have a sixth cog, so that it becomes better for mile munching.
Expect TVS to throw in some fancy tech also as it has been the case for its recent products like the RTR 310 and the X.
This would be a far more welcoming product than perhaps TVS revising the BMW G 310 GS to suit its core identities.
While these are the hottest five, we know that the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Bajaj’s Bruzer 125 CNG motorcycle, Hero’s 400 cc Hurikan naked and more are also slotted for 2024.
